Apart from Salt Lake City, Holladay was the first village settled after the pioneers arrived to the Salt Lake Valley. That being said, Holladay didn’t officially become a city until the end of 1999. The population is 25,527 and the number of homes in Holladay has grown to around 9,117. 17% of the population rents and the median income is $81,875. Temperatures will average a summer high of 92 degrees and a winter low of 22. Precipitation averages around 52 inches of snow and 19 inches of rain annually.
In the sixties, the cottonwood mall was built in the area and was one of the first of its kind in the western US. The mall is currently being redeveloped and will eventually include retail shops, restaurants, group gathering places, and all types of entertainment.
During the second quarter of 2009, Holladay real estate average sold price jumped 30% to almost one-half million dollars. Because of the prime location, household are generally priced higher than average Utah real estate. That being said, median home prices slipped 11% to $300,000 so there are still some reasonably priced homes for those who want something in a nice area that’s not too pricey.
