Weight loss is really difficult when you have the wrong perspective about what you eat. Your inner thoughts about food can completely sabotage your attempts to diet successfully. It is now time to change your perspective...
I’m sure you have heard by now that lots of sugar, salt and fat is really unhealthy. How many times have you cut out “certain foods” in order to lose weight faster? How many times have you faced defeat trying this tactic? Weight loss is really hard when you have the wrong perspective about what you eat. Your inner thoughts about food can completely sabotage your attempts to diet successfully.
It is now time to change your perspective, instead of saying to yourself, “I will no longer eat potato chips, cookies, cakes or other carbohydrates,” you should focus on the quality and quantity of foods you eat each day. Try to eat nutritious foods like fruits, vegetables, lean meat and complex carbohydrates 90 percent of the time. Pay close attention to the portions of food you’re eating by only eating ½ of what you’re served at a restaurant or by eating out of a child’s plate or salad plate when you dine at home.
Here’s my theory: if you eat enough of what is good for you, you will not have enough room for the foods that are bad for you. For example, if you eat the 2 servings of fruit and 3 servings of vegetables each day like you’re supposed to, how much room will you have left for a big bag of chips? Eventually your taste buds will get weaned off of the salty, sugary and fatty foods that make you fat.
Look at the food you eat as fuel for your body to stay alive. You can enjoy treats every once in a while, but try not to eat junk food more than twice a week. Just as you would not want to put low-grade fuel in a Mercedes, you should not want to put low-grade food into your body. This is the right perspective to have when dieting to lose weight.
